As the world marks the one-year anniversary of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, France has once again reminded us that the true value of hosting the Olympics lies not just in the spectacle—but in the legacy that follows.

From the illuminated Eiffel Tower to the symbolic public celebrations along the Seine, Paris turned its Olympic memory into a living narrative. The city didn’t just celebrate what happened—it demonstrated what’s possible when sport is embedded into urban renewal, cultural identity, and sustainable planning.

Legacy in Action: What Paris Did Right

Paris 2024 didn’t build for the Games—it built for the future. The transformation of the Seine into a clean, swimmable river is more than an environmental achievement—it’s a powerful symbol of regeneration. Venues like the Aquatic Centre in Saint-Denis and Arena Porte de la Chapelle reopened to the public, becoming vibrant community hubs rather than post-event relics.

These actions reflect a broader movement: Olympic Games as catalysts for change. Cities now compete not only on logistics and infrastructure, but on vision, sustainability, and post-Games impact.

Looking Ahead: LA28, Brisbane 2032… and Doha 2036?

The Olympic spotlight now turns to Los Angeles 2028 and Brisbane 2032, both aiming to deliver youth-driven, digitally integrated Games with strong community foundations. But as the Olympic movement evolves, the Middle East is rising as a serious and strategic contender.

Why not Doha?

Qatar has consistently proven its readiness. With 95% of Olympic-standard infrastructure already in place, a robust public transportation network, and a successful track record hosting global mega-events—including the FIFA World Cup 2022, World Aquatics Championships 2024, and the upcoming Asian Games 2030—Doha is not starting from zero. It's building on momentum.

What sets Doha apart is not just its facilities—it’s the vision. A Games hosted in Qatar would be the first ever in the Middle East, opening doors for a new generation of athletes and fans, and placing sport at the heart of regional development and peace-building.

Conclusion: The Olympics Are Evolving—And So Must the Hosts

Paris 2024 proved that the Games can be a tool for long-term transformation. It also set a challenge for future hosts: How will you define your legacy?

Doha has an answer—and the world is watching.
